PROVIDENCE — Providence City will kick off the holiday season with its sixth annual Christmas Tree lighting on Thursday, Dec. 5, at the roundabout on 100 North and Gateway Drive.
Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with Santa Claus arriving to greet children, while a local children’s choir performs. Free hot chocolate and treats will be served, leading up to the tree lighting ceremony at 7 p.m.
This year’s event doubles as a service opportunity to support local charities. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or other donations for the Cache Community Food Pantry.
Additionally, ornaments will be available for purchase to decorate the tree, with proceeds benefiting The Family Place, a nonprofit providing protective and enriching services for families in Cache Valley. Ornaments are available for a suggested donation of $15 at the Providence City office, 164 North Gateway Drive, or at the event.
Raffle tickets will also be sold during the evening, with prizes including Santa’s chair and a Saranoni blanket. Proceeds from the raffle will also support The Family Place.
Updates or changes to the event will be posted on providencecity.com and the city’s social media pages.
