HYDE PARK — A multiple vehicle accident in Hyde Park sent a pregnant woman to the hospital Wednesday. The accident occurred near 3444 North, Highway 91.

According to North Park Police Sargent John Seamons, the woman was traveling north on Highway 91 in Hyde Park, around 5:30 Wednesday evening. Traffic at the time was heavy and backed up from the light at 3600 North.

According to Seamons, the woman was driving on the inside lane and did not notice the slowed traffic. The woman swerved into on-coming traffic to try and avoid a rear-end collision and instead was hit head on. Seamons said one of the drivers in the accident had to be extricated from their vehicle. Multiple agencies responded to the accident and traffic along 91 was shut down for a time.

Patients’ conditions are not known at this time or the effect of the accident on the pregnancy. As more details become available this story will be updated.
