SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police say they’ve found the body of a 21-year-old Utah State University student who went missing on a hike near a Salt Lake City-area ski resort.
Unified Police Lt. Lex Bell said Marie Caseiro’s body was found Wednesday at the bottom of a 100-foot cliff near Alta Ski Resort. Bell says it appears Caseiro slipped and fell while on her solo hike Tuesday.
Bell says the student’s boyfriend called police when she didn’t return home after dark. Authorities used aircraft and ATVs to search near the resort in Little Cottonwood Canyon overnight.
Bell says Caseiro is from New Jersey was an experienced hiker.
