August 27, 1981 ~ April 1, 2022 (age 40)

Nicole Strawn Meuchel of Hamilton, Montana, passed away on April 1, 2022, after a two-and-a-half-year battle with colon cancer.  She was born on August 27, 1981, to Robert and Mary Jean Strawn in Logan, Utah.  Nicole was raised in Providence, Utah and graduated from Mountain Crest High School, in 1999.

Nicole attended college in Alaska, Logan, Utah, Orem, Utah, and St. George, Utah, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree and became a Registered Dental Hygienist. In between semesters of college, Nicole took 18 months to serve a mission in Melbourne, Australia, where she had a great time and made some lifelong friends. In Nicole’s adventurous spirit, her new career took her on a humanitarian trip on a Navy ship all over South and Central America.  Upon finishing that adventure, she worked as a hygienist in Colorado, Utah, and Montana.  She also followed a lifelong desire to help people with Skin Care and make them feel beautiful by going back to the Cameo College of Essential Beauty.

Nicole’s love of adventure took her all over as she travelled as often as possible.  Right out of high school, she worked in Jackson Hole, then she moved up to Alaska to live with relatives.  She made several last-minute trips with friends whenever they were offered. Nicole’s nomadic spirit brought her to Hamilton on a tip from a co-worker for a temporary work opportunity.  Hamilton brought Nicole so much of what she looked for in life, horseback riding, friends, mountains, and a family of her own.   She was sealed to Travis Meuchel on May 6, 2017, and they welcomed Kase the following year. In their short time together, the family enjoyed travelling to visit family, camping, concerts, and anything else that came about.  Her cancer diagnosis shortly after Kase turned 1, turned life upside down.  She fought like crazy and sought any and every opportunity to beat the disease.

Nicole was preceded in death by her grandparents; many aunts and uncles; three close cousins, Travis, Kevin, and her little buddy, Colby.

Nicole is survived by her husband, Travis; son, Kase (3); parents, Bob & Mary Jean Strawn of Providence, Utah; brothers, Reed Strawn of Logan, Utah, and Jared (Stephanie) Strawn of Wellsville, Utah; in-laws, John & Jani of Hamilton; Brandon (Kristie) Meuchel of Greely, Colorado; Jasey (Roger) Hermanson of Billings, Montana; nephews & nieces: Kaden, Kambri, Tate, Zander, Cale, Payton, Colt, Benson, Patrick, Shaylee, and Mathew. Plus, many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2022, the Hamilton Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with the funeral service starting at 11:00 a.m., and the graveside service following.

The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses that provided her care with love and compassion over the last two years.  They would also like to thank the kind and prompt service of Bitterroot Health Hospice over the last few weeks of her life.

Donations can be made to a college savings account for her son Kase.  Checks can be sent to First Security Bank PO Box 393, Hamilton, MT 59840.  Please make checks out to Kase Meuchel with a note to deposit it into his savings account.
