LOGAN — A 21-year-old Nibley man has been arraigned on charges that he had sex with an underage girl. Marshall D. Dewaal was arrested January 3 and booked into the Cache County Jail.
Dewaal made his initial appearance in 1st District Court Monday afternoon. He was charged with two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a third-degree felony.
Cache County Sheriff’s deputies began investigating after the alleged victim contacted law enforcement. The incidents reportedly occurred around December 21, 2019. The alleged suspect and victim were reportedly acquaintances.
Judge Thomas Willmore ordered Dewaal to have no direct or indirect contact with the alleged victim. She also ordered the suspect to appear again in court February 18.
Dewaal remains out of jail after posting $10,000 bail. He could face up to five years in prison if convicted.
