BOX ELDER COUNTY — A new wildfire started Wednesday, prompting evacuations in Box Elder County, according to Utah Fire Info.
The brush fire was reported west of Promontory Point and has burned around 50 acres. Fire managers said flames are threatening structures in the area.
Utah Fire Info reported a couple of homes were being evacuated. The fire is suspected to be human-caused.
Crews from Box Elder and Weber counties are working to contain the fire.
A red flag warning was issued Wednesday by the National Weather Service, due to southwesterly winds with gusts up to 35 to 45 mph, and relative humidity levels under 14%.
