LOGAN — Utah Highway Patrol has released the name of the 31-year-old Bountiful man, killed in a motorcycle accident Friday afternoon in Logan Canyon, US-89.
Lt. Lee Perry said Craig Allen died in the accident around 1:30 p.m. near milepost 468.
The 2002 black Honda motorcycle that Allen was driving went off the roadway and up the hillside. It came to rest in the bar-pit and caught fire.
Perry said Allen was not wearing a helmet and was thrown from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident was reported by a Division of Wildlife Resources officer who was driving eastbound through the canyon and noticed the fire. The DWR officer called for help and attempted to render first-aid to the driver. There were no witnesses to the accident.
Perry said speed, mechanical or driver error are all factors that could have caused the crash.
The accident is under investigation.
