LOGAN — A local eye surgical center has been shut down as the owner faces allegations of failing to pay creditors more than $500,000. Monson Vision, aka The Logan Eye Institute, was closed Friday after law enforcement served Dr. Bryan Monson, the business’ owner, with an eviction notice.
According to court records, Southpoint Holdings, the landlord for Monson Vision’s office at 810 South 100 West, filed a civil case in December claiming they were owed more than four months of back rent, totaling $45,512. The lease agreement had stated rent was to be paid on the first day of each month or before.
The plaintiffs claimed Monson Vision had failed to pay rent since August 2025. The case requested at least $136,537 in damages, factoring in court costs, attorneys’ fees and other expenses.
Skipping rent payments aren’t the only allegations against Monson Vision. In a second pending case, an office management company claimed Dr. Monson breached their contract by failing to pay for non-clerical, administrative and consulting support.
The plaintiff’s, iOR Partners reported Monson Vision failed to pay monthly invoices for the past year and a half, resulting in a bill of more than $442,264. Each time the management company attempted to make contact with the Logan business or mediate a solution they allegedly received no response.
Court records show two other state tax liens filed against Dr. Monson during the past five years. They total more than $5,943.
On Wednesday, hand written signs were seen posted on the clinic doors, saying the eye center was closed. Calls to the business’ phone number also were automatically transferred to a voicemail account.
Monson Vision has been in business since April 2019. Dr. Monson reportedly has over 15 years of experience in ophthalmology. In 2011 he founded Insight Humanitarian providing free sight-restoring vision to the blind in developing nations.
