SMITHFIELD — Law enforcement have cancelled an alert for a 51-year-old Smithfield man that had been missing since Wednesday night.

The Silver Alert had been issued Thursday afternoon for James “Jamie” Matthew Conley who was last seen at his residence at 68 West 300 North on Wednesday around 9 p.m.

The Smithfield City Police Department reported Conley suffers from diabetes and dementia. He had not been taking his medications and been making suicidal statements.

Smithfield City Police Chief Travis Allen said Conley returned safely home Thursday night. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution to be checked out.

The statewide alert was cancelled after Conley had been found.
