October 29, 1934 ~ March 28, 2023 (age 88)

Our beloved mother, Marion Graser Holmes Stokes, 88, received her wish and returned to her Heavenly Father and family members who had gone before her.

Our mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at her home in Willard, with family by her side.

Marion was born October 29, 1934, in Willard, Utah, the youngest daughter of LaVon Crowther and Theodore Lynn Graser. She lived her whole life in Willard; she attended Willard Elementary School, Box Elder Jr. High School, graduating from Box Elder High School in 1953.

Marion married Grant Orvil Holmes on March 5, 1953, in the Logan Temple just before Grant left for the Korean War. She finished her senior year of High School. Upon Grant’s return they made their home in Willard.

She learned the importance of hard work at a young age helping her parents and sisters on the family farm.

After Grant had a tragic boating accident on May 14, 1970, leaving her to raise five children, she began working at the Willard School as a cook. She later became known as Grandma Marion to many children throughout the years. Marion enjoyed all the children and loved each of them. She retired after cooking for 28 years.

Marion was a good cook, and everyone enjoyed receiving her rolls, bread, sweet rolls, pie, and home-made chocolates. She loved to crochet, sew, quilt, and read.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served in many capacities.

On April 30, 1983, Marion married Merl Wilford Stokes in Willard, they were happily married for 21 years. Merl died November 26, 2004.

Surviving are her children: Larry (Chris) Holmes, Virginia (Doug) Thompson, Kevin (Cindy) Holmes, Colleen (Shawn) Gardner and daughter in-law Jodi Holmes. Stepchildren: Elke Phillips, Sylvia Harris, Heidi (Rex) Colledge, stepdaughter-in-law Sharlene Stokes; 32 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Grant and Merl; son Bruce Holmes; stepsons: Robert Stokes and Mikel Stokes; sisters: Marjorie (Ted) Burt, Audrie (Earnest) Able, Emma Jean (Ken) Waite; brother-in-law Doug Eddie; great-granddaughter Kenley Thompson.

Special thanks to Canyon Home Care and Hospice for all their loving care to Marion.
