January 28, 1933 – January 19, 2022 (age 88)

Marilyn passed away on January 19, 2022 at her home in Stone, Idaho. She was born on January 28, 1933 in Tremonton, Utah, the first child of Harvey Jesse and Amelia Mary Hubsmith Harris. A brother Don, and a sister Renelle followed later. She attended school in Stone, Idaho thru the 8th grade and then attended Bear River High School in Tremonton, Utah. She went to college at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She married Rollin Jess Showell in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on June 30, 1952. She was blessed with 5 children.

Marilyn was a wonderful mother and an excellent cook. She was easy to talk to and all of her children were very blessed by her ability to listen with unconditional love. She milked cows, raised bum lambs, taught school and worked with her husband on the farm. She lived a life of quiet service and was quick to forgive others. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in numerous callings. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her son David Showell of Stone, ID, her daughters LuAnn (Nolan) Branch of Malta, ID and Carilyn (Tony) Gillies of Lyman, WY, a son-in-law Rodney (Annette) Johnson of Paradise, UT, a brother Don (Rena) Harris of Logan, UT and a sister Renelle (Ronald) Skidmore of Tremonton, Utah, brother-in-law Sid (Sharon) Showell of Stone, ID, 18 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jess Showell, a son Mark Showell and a daughter Karla Showell Johnson, a daughter-in-law Patricia Showell and a great-granddaughter Maycie Schwartz.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 24th at 12 noon in the Curlew LDS Ward Chapel in Snowville, Utah with a viewing prior to the service at 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Burial will follow in the Snowville, Utah Cemetery.
