FRANKLIN COUNTY, Idaho — Law enforcement have arrested a 55-year-old man accused of killing a woman during a domestic dispute north of Preston. Douglas James Gildemeister was booked Monday night into the Cache County Jail on suspicion of murder.

Franklin County Sheriff David Fryar said deputies were dispatched to a residence north of Preston at approximately 1:00 p.m. Monday. The information that they had received was there had been a domestic violence situation, with the possibility of a female being deceased.

According to jail records, Gildemeister was booked on suspicion of homicide murder and death reported to law enforcement. He is being held without bail.

Details about the victim and the circumstances surrounding the murder were not released.

Fryar said the sheriff’s office, along with the Preston Police Department and Idaho State Police are investigating the case.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
