NORTH LOGAN – The Major Brent Taylor Foundation is seeking volunteers to support its “Cache Valley Remembers” exhibit, a project commemorating the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

“The 9/11 project will take place from Wednesday, Sept. 11 to Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Hansen Family Sports Complex in North Logan,” explains Jennie Taylor, who heads the Major Brent Taylor Foundation.

The goal of the project is to educate Cache Valley school children and their families about the Sept. 11 attacks and their aftermath.

Volunteers are needed to act as docents to guide children and adults through the interactive exhibit, according to Jennie Taylor. Volunteer shifts are available in two-hour increments throughout the four-day display, which is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Children from the Logan and Cache County school districts are scheduled to make field trips to the “Cache Valley Remembers” display during that period.

“While most of the volunteer activities require standing to greet guests, usher them through the exhibit and help direct the flow of visitors,” Jennie Taylor adds, “we can also accommodate those who need to sit down during their time slot for health reasons.

“You will have the option to let us know if this applies to you during the registration process.”

Volunteers can register for specific time slots by clicking on the “Get Involved” link on the webpage at www.cachevalleyremembers.com.

In preparation for the display, volunteers are needed from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9 to unload the exhibit and in two-hour shifts from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10 to set-up the display.

A take-down crew of volunteers is also needed to disassemble the display on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Jennie Taylor is the widow of Major Brent Taylor, the former mayor of North Ogden. A member of the Utah National Guard, Maj. Taylor was killed in a tragic “blue-on-blue” shooting incident while serving in Afghanistan in November 2018.

In the years since Maj. Taylor’s shocking death, Jennie Taylor has unexpectedly and frequently found herself in a position to speak out about the price of freedom, the value of community support and the process of healing after loss.

She is currently serving as a civilian aide to the Secretary of the Army for the State of Utah and continually looks for ways to carry on her husband’s legacy of service to God, family and country.

At a meeting with Cache Valley groups and stakeholders on Aug. 27, Jennie Taylor estimated that the “Cache Valley Remembers” project will need a many as 700 volunteers.

The terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 that launched the so-called Global War On Terrorism killed nearly 3,000 Americans at the World Trade Center in New York City, including 343 firefighters and first responders. There were an additional 184 victims during an attack on the Pentagon and 40 people were killed in a fatal air crash outside Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The Global War on Terror was a series of conflicts and interventions in the Middle East and North Africa, including the U.S. invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq.

As of February 2024, the United States military had suffered 7,085 fatalities in that conflict and an additional 53,533 wounded service members.

Jennie Taylor says that volunteers of all ages are welcome to help make “Cache Valley Remembers” a success.

She encourages anyone interested in signing up a group of 10 or more volunteers to contact info@majorbrenttaylor.com or to call or text 801-628-3848.
