LOGAN – The Lyric Repertory Company’s 2022 season is set to open in 10 days.

After a season of deliberately small-cast shows in 2021, artistic director Richie Call promises that this season will be bigger and better than ever.

The Lyric company will stage a farce, a Disney musical, a drama and a comedy this season.  Also in the line-up will be a work-in-progress one-man show, offered as the company’s interACT performance, and the 4th Annual Vosco Call Spotlight Concert.

The Lyric’s cast for 2022 will include familiar faces and talented newcomers.

Theatergoers who regularly attend productions by the Theatre Arts Department at Utah State University will recognize Blake Brundy.

Or maybe they won’t.

Richie Call says that Brundy came to USU as a transfer student from the Pacific Conservatory of the Arts in Santa Maria, CA.

He graduated in 2020, following an unfortunately abbreviated season due to the coronavirus pandemic. During his time at USU, Brundy had played the Emcee in Shockheaded Peter, Balthazar in Much Ado About Nothing and Nick in the autumn 2019 drama Civics & Humanities for Non-Majors.

But Brundy is best remembered for comedy characterizations, including the Bawd in Pericles, Prince of Tyre, Thalia the Muse in Xanadu and Farrah in She Kills Monsters.

In the summer of 2021, Bundy memorably played the dim-witted sidekick Dusty in the original musical melodrama Becoming a Bona Fide Bad Guy at the Pickleville Playhouse.

This season, Brundy will play multiple roles in the Disney musical Freaky Friday and also appear in the comedy Into the Breeches.

Another familiar face in the Lyric company will be Lacy J. Dunn.

She played leading roles in Wait Until Dark, The Musical of Musicals and Elephant Man, all in 2014, and Noises Off! in 2015.

Ms. Dunn will also perform in Freaky Friday and Into the Breeches.

After graduating summa cum laude from the acting program at USU in 2015, Sydnee Fullmer will return for her six season with the Lyric company.

Among other roles, Ms. Fullmer performed in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (2014) and Mama Mia! and The Great Society, both in 2019.

She is slated to perform this summer in the farce A Fox on the Fairway by Ken Ludwig.

Finally, the Lyric Repertory Company welcomes back Kelly McGaw for a third season.

Another transfer student from PCA, Ms. McGaw appeared in Bus Stop and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof while at USU.

In 2015, she joined the Lyric company for The Mystery of Edwin Drood and Noises Off! The following year, Ms. McGaw returned for a star turn as Lina in Singin’ in the Rain and You Can’t Take It With You.

This year, she will appear in Freaky Friday and Into the Breeches.

The 2022 season of the Lyric Repertory Company will run from June 17 to July 30.

Also on the Lyric’s schedule are the August Wilson drama Fences and the one-man show FreeMan in Paris by Herb Newsome.

Performances are slated in the Caine Lyric Theatre in downtown Logan and at the Black Box and Morgan theatres in the Chase Fine Arts Center on the USU campus.
