LOGAN — A 73-year-old Logan man has confessed again to sexually assaulting a girl years ago. Lloyd Thomas Clark accepted a plea deal that will likely send him back to prison.

Clark appeared virtually for a pretrial hearing in 1st District Court Monday afternoon, appearing by web conference from the Cache County Jail. He pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony.

Defense attorney Michael McGinnis noted the crime occurred in 2003 prior to Clark’s other conviction. He explained that as part of the plea agreement prosecutors agreed to drop four remaining charges in the case.

Logan City police began investigating Clark after a now 26-year-old woman described being sexually molested years ago. The crimes occurred while the suspect was babysitting the alleged victim.

The woman told police how Clark would inappropriately touch her while he was viewing pornography on a computer. He would similarly grope her while playing hide and seek at his home.

The victim also described being molested by Clark while swimming at a public pool.

In June 2007, Clark was arrested after chatting with an undercover police officer in Colorado. During the chats, he stated that he had an 11-year-old granddaughter, who he had molested and wanted to do more “sexual things” with.

Clark remains in the Cache County Jail, being held without bail. He is schedule to be sentenced May 23 and could face between five-years-to-life in prison.
