LOGAN — A 42-year-old Logan man has been arrested and charged with allegedly molesting a young girl several years ago. Dustin James Creager was booked Tuesday into the Cache County Jail.

According to the probable cause statement, West Jordan Police officers received a report last year from a girl who claimed she had been sexually abused by Creager, a family relative.

During a forensic interview with investigators, the alleged victim described how she was staying at Creager’s home on Dec. 27, 2019. During the night, the suspect allegedly invited her into his bedroom, explaining that he was struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder and needed the girl to hold him, so he could sleep.

The girl agreed and shortly after, Creager began molesting and groping her over her clothes.

The alleged victim told police that after this happened, she got out of the bed and ran out of the room. She barricaded herself in a bathroom and called her mother to come and get her.

The police report stated that when family members confronted Creager about the girl’s allegations, he denied them and said he was playing video games. He later claimed it was the girl’s idea to come into his bed.

Since the crimes reportedly occurred in Logan, the West Valley City Police Department transferred the investigation to the Logan City Police Department.

Logan police interviewed Creager in December 2021. The suspect initially said the girl came into his room after having a bad dream but denied touching her.

Creager was arraigned during a virtual hearing in 1st District Court Wednesday afternoon, appearing by web conference from jail. He was charged with three counts of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony.

Defense Attorney Ray Malouf asked the court to release Creager on bail. He explained that he suffered from PTSD.

Judge Brian Cannell set bail at $10,000. He ordered Creager to have no contact with minors or the alleged victim if he was able to post bail.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
