LOGAN — A 53-year-old Logan man has been arrested for allegedly trying to extort and harass a woman, according to law enforcement. Kenneth D. Romine was booked into the Cache County Jail Wednesday morning after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

According to the warrant affidavit, Romine is suspected of threatening to distribute intimate images of the alleged victim. He also repeatedly contacted the woman after being asked to stop.

Logan City Police officers report that Romine also contacted them about the alleged victim, accusing her of committing crimes.

Court records show Romine is on probation after being convicted of obstructing justice and possession of a controlled substance, following an arrest in June 2021. He was previously incarcerated for manufacturing a controlled substance, theft, driving under the influence and other crimes.

Officers report Romine is a registered sex-offender, convicted of lewd acts with a child under 14-years-old. The conviction occurred in California in May 1995.

Romine has been charged in 1st District Court with sexual extortion of an adult, a second-degree felony; stalking, a third-degree felony; and electronic communication harassment, a class B misdemeanor. He is scheduled to be arraigned in court Monday afternoon.

In March 2018, Romine was driving into the Cache County Jail parking lot when he reportedly suffered a medical event. He drove through the security fence, crashing his car into the jail wall.

Romine told police at the time, he was suffering a medical problem and felt like he was passing out. He was treated by paramedics and transported to Intermountain Logan Regional Hospital for treatment.
