LOGAN — A 21-year-old Logan man has been arrested and charged with multiple crimes after allegedly crashing a car into a fence while under the influence. Victor D. Campos was booked into the Cache County Jail early Monday morning.

According to an arrest affidavit, Cache County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a traffic accident around 10 p.m. Sunday night, near Smithfield. A complainant had called 911 to report a Kia Optima had driven off the road near 4600 North. The vehicle then went through two pastures and stopped after smashing into a fence near 748 West.

The 911 caller stated the driver, later identified as Campos, was yelling and running around the backyard. The suspect tied to break into the alleged victim’s home and then ran away, before being restrained by the homeowner.

Deputies arrived and were able to safely take Campos into custody. He allegedly refused to answer any questions, requesting an attorney.

The affidavit reported that deputies searched the vehicle, finding marijuana sitting on the front passenger seat and prescription drugs prescribed to another individual. Campos was also driving on a revoked license for prior drug offenses.

Campos was booked into jail on multiple offenses. He later complied with a drug test which showed positive for THC and Methamphetamines.

Monday afternoon, Campos was arraigned in 1st District Court, appearing by web conference from jail. He was charged with theft, a second-degree felony; two counts of possession of controlled substance, a third-degree felony; and four misdemeanors.

Court records show Campos has been arrested multiple times during the past three years for various drug offenses. He accepted a plea deal in October, pleading guilty to possession of a dangerous weapon, a second-degree felony; and possession of a controlled substance, a third-degree felony. He was sentenced to 105 days, with credit for the three months already served, and 36 months of probation.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
