LOGAN — A Logan couple has been arrested for allegedly abusing two girls for years, according to law enforcement. Jimmy Dean Stewart, 49, and Jean Elizabeth Stewart, 48, were booked Monday into the Cache County Jail following a four month investigation.

According to an arrest affidavit, Logan City Police officers received a delayed report of abuse in May 2024. The alleged victim claimed that she and her sister had suffered years of controlling and abusive behavior by Jimmy and Jean Stewart.

The woman told the police how the abuse included being tied to chairs. During other times, she or her sister were locked in a basement with little or no food.

The second alleged victim also described how she had been stabbed with knifes or forks. She also claimed to be forced to run around outside with no shoes on, according the probable cause statement.

Police noted the second woman had visible injuries on her neck. There were also bruises, stab wounds and scratches on other parts of her body.

As the investigation continued, officers contacted several family members and co-workers, who corroborated with the victim’s statements.

Police interviewed Jimmy and Jean Stewart on Sept. 9. During questioning, Jimmy allegedly admitted to putting the second victim in the basement because that was how they punished.

Jean reportedly denied the allegations of abuse. She told police, everyone was lying about them.

Both were charged with two counts of aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony; and two counts of stalking, a third-degree felony. Jean was also charged with one count of violating a protective order, a class A misdemeanor.
