PROVIDENCE – The Northern Utah Folk Music Connection will host a “Jam n’ Bread” event on Thursday, Aug. 8.

The event will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. at Von Baer Park in Providence.

Seating will be provided in the park, according to Dale Major, one of the organizers of the annual Cache Valley Cowboy Rendezvous who will perform at the “Jam n’ Bread” event.

Other local musicians and singers slated to perform at the concert include Chantry Olsen, Craig Mecham, Kristina Carter, Anna Anawalt, Don Butler, Dave Deakin and the Willow Valley String Band.

Concert-goers are invited to join in the music making during Ms. Anawalt’s set as well as that of the Willow Valley String Band. The evening’s events will conclude with an open microphone jam session.

While the concert event is technically free, its organizers suggest that folk music lovers provide a donation of a loaf of homemade bread and jam, or a monetary donation of $5 per person or $10 per family. All donations will go to the Northern Utah Folk Music Connection.

Originally organized in 2018, the Northern Utah Folk Music Connection is a group of individuals from Cache and Box Elder counties who enjoy listening to, playing or dancing to primarily bluegrass, folk, country, or Celtic music. Other genres appreciated by the group’s members  include blues, rock and original compositions.

The Northern Utah Folk Music Connection also hosts workshops and small sessions to help beginner players learn to improvise and merge with more advanced players.
