LOGAN — A 46-year-old Lewiston man has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman and molesting a young girl for several years, according to law enforcement. David Garcia was booked Friday, Feb. 9, into the Cache County Jail.

According to an arrest affidavit, a woman reached out to CAPSA, a nonprofit domestic violence, sexual abuse and rape recovery center, in July 2023. She claimed that she and her children had been victims of sexual and physical abuse for several years.

The woman later spoke to Cache County Sheriff’s deputies, alleging that Garcia had raped her several times. The abuse often took place when the suspect had been drinking.

A young girl also told law enforcement how Garcia had allegedly molested her for several years. She said the abuse would occur sometime on a nightly basis, when the suspect would enter her bedroom and inappropriately touch her, the probable cause statement detailed.

According to court records, Garcia was arraigned Monday, Feb. 12, in Logan’s 1st District Court. He was charged with four counts of rape, five counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, all first-degree felonies; along with rape of a child, a second-degree felony; and stalking, a third-degree felony.

Garcia was ordered to appear again in court Feb. 28. He could face up to life in prison, if convicted.
