Kathleen Olson Bradford, 83, died Monday, June 27, 2022, at Brigham City Community Hospital.

She was born in Heber City, UT, on August 20, 1938, to Farrell Grant Olson and Fern Boyer.

She was reared in Heber and Spanish Fork, UT, and graduated from Spanish Fork High. She graduated from Utah State University with a degree in English.

She married Robert Edward Bradford (Ed) January 15, 1960, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The couple’s first home was a small trailer at the Cahill Mine in Nevada where Ed worked. A few months later they moved to Brigham City where she spent her remaining years.

Kathy taught English at the Industrial School in Ogden and later taught English and French at Box Elder High School. While her children were young, she taught piano lessons in her home.

She worked as a correspondent for the Deseret News, writing articles for the northern Utah area.

She later worked for the Brigham City Museum Gallery, where she developed an appreciation for art and an interest in the history of Brigham City. She authored articles and books on the subject. She also interviewed Brigham City WWII veterans and wrote their histories, which are archived in the Library of Congress.

Kathy was utilized as a public speaker in Brigham City, sharing her knowledge about its history in numerous community events.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Kathy served in leadership positions in various stake and ward auxiliary organizations, most recently as a counselor in her ward Relief Society.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and made her family her priority.

Kathy is survived by her husband Ed; three children and their spouses: Blake (Penny) Bradford, Perry; Ann (Mel) Heiner, Orem; and Kaylene (Mike) Henry, Ogden; ten grandchildren: Nathan Bradford, Amy Eyre, Emily Waldron, Rachel Derricott, Celia Hatch, Mandi Miller, Kylan Heiner, Melissa Griffin, Samantha McGary, and Alexa Palmer; 21 great-grandchildren with two more expected by end of summer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Kristine Hill.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City 29th Ward, 531 North 100 West, Brigham City.

Viewings will be held the night before on Friday, July 1, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, and prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
