July 25, 1955 ~ April 2, 2022 (age 66)

Our beloved Jimmy D. Mestas (66) of Brigham City, made his journey home to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 2, 2022. He was surrounded by his family and friends that loved him dearly.

Jimmy was born July 27, 1955, in Pueblo, Colorado, to Albert and Florentina Mestas. He grew up in Layton where he graduated from Layton High School in 1973. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted in the Army in 1975 and completed one full term. After honorably serving his country, Jimmy owned/operated his own construction company. His wonderful vision and talents for building homes, remodeling, and landscaping were his expertise. He was the epitome of a cheerful, kind-hearted, hardworking, genuine person.

Jimmy loved the great outdoors, camping, fishing, skiing, traveling, and celebrating Super Bowl Sunday. He cherished helping his parents care for their yard and always made it look pristine. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved attending Sunday service and visiting with the members of the church that made him feel like family.

Jimmy is survived by his mother Florentina Mestas of Blackfoot, Idaho, that is healthy and still full of life at age 98. He was preceded in death by his father Albert Mestas; nephews: Robert, Ronald, and Dominic; and other family members of the Lopez and Maestas/Mestas family.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the nurses and hospital that cared for Jimmy in his final days. Celebration of Life and Military Honors will be held at a later date.
