January 23, 1932 – June 1, 2022 (age 90)

Janet Gourley Herbert, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her children on June 1, 2022. Jan was born on January 23, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah in the LDS Hospital to Roland Marl and Jennie Tuttle Gourley. Jan was the oldest of 3 beautiful girls. Claudia Wilde and Marl Christensen (deceased). Jan grew up in Brigham City, Utah and after graduating from high school went on to attend Weber College. At Weber College she was elected “Miss Collegiate for 1951”, cheerleader and received her English Degree. She was a member of Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Peach Day Queen (Brigham City, Utah), modeled and taught modeling, loved writing and an accomplished artist. She enjoyed reading, writing, genealogy, her dogs, traveling, Fox news, camping and oil painting and especially spending time with her family.

August 22, 1957, Jan married Don Charles Herbert in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Don passed away on July 30, 2013. Don and Jan raised 5 children. Jan was a lifelong member of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she served in many church callings, she was a Temple worker, but one of her favorites was writing and directing Roadshows.

Jan is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Don Charles, sister Marl Christensen, brother -in -law Robert Christensen and brother- in -law Larry Wilde.

She is survived by her children Rick (Jane) Herbert, Scott (Gai) Herbert, Don W. Herbert, Holly Herbert Roweton, and Kami (Jeff) Sondrup, (16) grandchildren, (44) great grandchildren and sister Claudia Wilde.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Veronica Jimenez, Bob & Eva Mae Cook, Canyon Hospice, and Kim & Dale Hadley.

Funeral Services will be held at the Northridge LDS Chapel Sandy, Utah 11196 Wasatch Blvd under the direction of Gillies Funeral Chapel Brigham City, Utah.

The family will receive visitors at a viewing Tuesday June 7, 2022 from 6:00- 8:00 PM and Wednesday June 8, 2022 10:00-10:45 AM with the funeral at 11:00 AM all at the church.

Interment will follow at the Brigham City Cemetery.
