March 23, 1930 – March 30, 2022 (age 92)

Our loving dad, papa, crazy papa, and best friend to all, Ivan C Swenson, passed away suddenly at home on March 30, 2022. Ivan was born on March 23, 1930 in Spanish Fork, Utah to Nephi Exile and Emma Amanda Christensen Swenson. He graduated from Spanish Fork High School and then attended BYU, graduating with a degree in chemistry. While at BYU he met his sweetheart, Barbara Vernon. They were married September 17, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent 66 years by each other’s side.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings over the years. He served a mission in The Northern States. “Ivan the humble”, spent his career in the aerospace industry, the last several years of his career he spent at Thiokol as a marketing manager. This was the perfect job for Ivan because he had the amazing gift of gab. Ivan loved gardening, traveling, story telling, talking, reading on the porch, but above all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Kristie (Charles) Bond, Karie Swenson, Kelie (Daniel) Taylor, Kimberlie Outlaw; 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; brother Terry Swenson.

Ivan is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; parents; 4 siblings; daughter Kathie Swenson.
