In America today, 70 percent of citizens either have no training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or have forgotten how to use it or they are afraid of hurting the victim.

In response, Intermountain Health is encouraging people to become CPR certified by offering CPR training coIntermountain Health offers two types of CPR classes at Intermountain Logan Regional Hospital.

HeartSaver CPR is designed for those in the community interested in learning CPR for their personal knowledge.

Basic Life Support (BLS) is the second type of CPR and is more advanced than HeartSaver CPR.  It is for those working in the healthcare field (nurses, doctors, dentists, etc.)

Hansen said “bystander CPR has proven to improve survival.”

Every year in America 350,000 cardiac arrests happen outside the hospital and 436,000 die from cardiac arrest.
