PRESTON – Idaho Governor Brad Little is expected to go to Preston for his “Capital for a Day” program on Wednesday, Oct. 29. He will bring members of his cabinet with him to field questions from residents.
Idaho Governor Brad Little visits rural communities to go face to face with residents in the Gem State.
The “Capital for a Day” program is when the Governor brings state officials to rural towns in different Idaho counties every month. Residents are then able to address their concerns directly with the Governor and his administration for an entire day.
The “Capitol for a Day” was something Governor Butch Otter started in 2006 to hold legislative sessions in different communities across Idaho. The idea was to promote civic engagement and provide ways for local issues to be addressed directly by lawmakers.
Preston City Mayor Dan Keller mentioned it in a recent city council, but the community didn’t have any official details yet.
“The rumor has it he is going to declare Preston ‘Capitol for Day,'” he said. “Tentatively, he will bring his contingency to the Worm Creek Opera House. They will have a table set up for them to sit at the public askes questions.”
The meeting is expected to be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. and resumes at 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
