LOGAN — A 34-year-old Hyrum woman has been arrested for stealing from her employer, according to law enforcement. Chelsey Ann Thomas was booked Tuesday into the Cache County Jail on multiple offences.

According to the arrest affidavit, Logan City Police officers were called to the business on a report that Thomas had been stealing money and products from the store for several months. The store manager claimed, Thomas had been using several employee profiles to login into the cash register to process refunds. Instead of putting the money in the register though, she allegedly took it.

Police also learned that Thomas had taken a large amount of nicotine vapes from the store. The theft occurred a day after the items had been inventoried, the probable cause statement described.

According to jail records, Thomas was booked on suspicion of committing a pattern of unlawful activity, a second-degree felony; theft and identity fraud, both third-degree felonies. She was later released, pending formal charges in 1st District Court in Logan.

Thomas has been convicted of similar crimes before. In 2020, she pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful use of a financial card, both misdemeanors. She served 15 days in jail, according to court records.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
