A big part of the draw of individuals to Cache Valley is access to the outdoors. Trails have been an increasing part of that draw with a connected trail system throughout Cache Valley. Part of this system is the Highline Trail located on the side of the mountain above First Dam. This has been a project a long time in coming. Cache Trails Coordinator Dayton Crites was a guest recently on KVNU’s For the People show and talked about the appeal of trails.

“People like their trails because it’s quality of life.” Crites went on to explain, “Simply put – you can go ahead and leave Cache Valley and get yourself in a car and move all your family down and you can go live in the heart of Phoenix, you can go live in Manhattan..and those places perhaps have more to offer for nightlife. They might have more to offer in a number of regards. But one of the things that drives people to love and live in Cache Valley is access to the outdoors.”

The Highline Trails’ Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting will be held Thursday morning at 11a.m. along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail above First Dam. Everyone is invited. For more information see https://trails.cachecounty.org
