BLUE CREEK — A 15-year-old girl died in a single vehicle rollover crash Friday afternoon, northwest of Tremonton. The accident occurred just before 4 p.m. near Blue Creek, along Interstate-84 in Box Elder County.

Utah Highway Patrol troopers report a red Chrysler Pacifica was traveling west. Near mile post 22, the minivan veered into the center median and rolled several times.

The 15-year-old girl was in the front passenger seat and was partially ejected. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were two other occupants in the vehicle. The driver, a 17-year-old girl and the mother of the two girls, who was in a backseat, were both transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers did not report whether any of the occupants were wearing seat belts.

No other vehicles were involved.

The family was reportedly headed back home to Washington State. The identity of the victim is not being released, pending notification of family.

Troopers believe wind gusts and lack of experience were both contributing factors in the crash.
