Gary Obray Miles passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 21, 2023, at the Fairfield Village in Layton, Utah. He was 87.

Gary was born September 8, 1935, in Paradise, Utah to his parents, John and Mabel Miles. He graduated from Utah State University with a math degree. He found the love of his life, Fay (Syddall) Miles, and was later married in the Logan temple On February 12, 1960. Gary programmed computers at Thiokol in Brigham City, Utah until 1969 when they moved to Kaysville, Utah. He started his own computer business shortly after in Salt Lake City, Utah. He retired in 2001 and moved to St. George, Utah.

Gary loved his wife, Fay, unconditionally. He took her on many adventures with family and friends. They loved to cruise the countryside on their Harley Davidson. If they weren’t on the Harley, they were camping somewhere in their trailer. He was an amazing athlete who loved to play golf. Throughout his life, he enjoyed playing all sports including tennis, baseball, basketball, handball, and racquetball. He loved his children and grandchildren and looked forward to their visits. Gary worked hard from the time he was a young boy. He loved his mother and always helped take care of her.

After graduating from South Cache High School in Hyrum, Utah, Gary served an LDS mission in Oklahoma. He then joined the US Army where he spent much of his time serving in Korea.

Gary is survived by his children Steve Miles, Wade Miles, Cindy (Dave) Affleck, Mike Miles, and Teresa Miles, and grandchildren Miles Welk, Candice Palmer, Maddison Welk, Jacob (Abigail) Miles, Logan Affleck, Jessi (Parker) Menlove, Summer Affleck, and Lily Miles and grandchildren Kacey Miles, Rhett Menlove, and Brooks Miles, and twin brother Gail Miles, and sister Jane Vernon.

Gary is preceded in death by his lovely wife, Fay Miles, daughter Lori Ann Welk, son David Ray Miles, and his parents John and Mabel Miles, and his brothers, Odell (Betty) Miles, Maurice Miles, Lamar Miles, Easton (Sally) Miles, and Quinn Miles, and his sisters Lavon (Cal) Bickmore, and Barbara Rancotti.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 1, 2023, at White Pine Funeral Services, 753 S 100 E, Logan, UT, for family and friends who wish to share in saying goodbye to Gary.

The interment will be at the Paradise City Cemetery directly after the memorial service.
