PRESTON – The Franklin County Fair 2024 kicks off in Preston this week. This year’s fair theme is “Dusty Boots and Deep Roots, Tippin’ our Hats to 85 years.”
The fair kicked off with a movie in the park on Tuesday, Aug.13, at dark.
Bloomfest will be held Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. in the Robinson building.
Also on Wednesday a Barn Dance will be held in the Indoor Livestock Arena starting at 8:30 p.m. It is for all ages.

Among all the livestock and other animal entries and shows there is plenty for participants to do. Some activities cost money and some are free.
The Adventure Family Circus is is at 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the open lawn on Thursday, Aug. 15, through Saturday, Aug. 17.
The Pavilion will have free entertainment at various times every day on the fair stage including dance groups, music groups and individuals performers.
Friday at 8 p.m. the FMX Legend Nitro Circus Tour Rider and Monster Energy Drink Stunt Rider will perform at the Rodeo Arena.
One Friday, Aug. 16 and 17 there will be an obstacle course and bounce houses set up on the open lawn.
Friday evening, Hypnotist Cory will perform from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. and again at 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Pavilion Stage. Magic Ben will take the stage at 2 to 2:30 to show his magician skills.
At 4 p.m. on that same day the county commissioners will serve free ice cream. The livestock sale will take place at the Indoor Livestock Arena starting at 4 p.m.
The annual Baby Contest will be held Saturday, Aug 17 at the Robinson Building beginning at 9 a.m. There will be three categories he kids the last one begins at noon.
The Kids Corner will be held on Saturday, also from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
To finish the Franklin County Fair off, the Bull Bonanza. It starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Rodeo Arena pitting man against beast for a fun time.
There is also a Preston City Car Show, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Preston City Park located at 98 West 2Nd Street.
