March 30, 1935 ~ May 25, 2023 (age 88)
Rocky was born on March 30, 1935, to Elmer William and Stella Mellor Rhoads in Salt Lake City, UT. At 3.3 lbs., he was brought home in a shoe box and kept in a warm oven until he grew a bit. He graduated from West High School and attended BYU. He was drafted in the U.S. Army from 1955 – 1957 in Colorado at the Mountain Cold Weather Training Center where he trained special forces in skiing, mountain climbing, rescue and survival. After his service, he married his sweetheart, LaDean Hills on May 16, 1957. They were together for 59 years and had 4 children.
Rocky was employed at Utah Power & Light for 33 years. He loved skiing, golfing, and was a hunting guide during his years in Cokeville, Wyoming. Touring, hill climbs, and poker runs with their motorcycle club brought them many lifelong friends.
Most of all, Rocky loved spending time with his family. He was actively involved with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and this brought him great joy. He was a member of the Perry 7th Ward and fulfilled many callings.
Survived by his children: Tybe Lehn, Roy, Cory Story, Ogden, Kirt Rhoads, Midvale, Mardi (Lex) Obray, Perry; sisters: Cindy (Albert) Larsen, Salt Lake City, Mary Halverston, Lake Point; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Perry 7th Ward Chapel, 2415 South 900 West, Perry, UT.
Viewing will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 6:00-8:00pm at Myers Mortuary 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, UT and Thursday from 10:00-10:30am at the church prior to the funeral services.
Interment will follow in the Brigham City Cemetery.
