CACHE COUNTY – The 2026 Utah Primary Election is officially underway, according to Cache County Clerk Bryson Behm.
Behm explains that mail-in ballots began going out to registered county voters on Tuesday, June 2 in accordance with state law, which specifies that ballots go out 21 days prior to the Primary Election on Tuesday, June 23.
County voters will be choosing between two Republican candidates for the position of Cache County attorney. They are incumbent Dane Murray and challenger J. Brett Chambers.
Local residents will also be contributing their ballots to determining the outcome of a multi-county race between incumbent U.S. Rep. Blake Moore (R-Dist. 2) and state Rep. Karianne Lisonbee (R-Clearfield).
State law also identifies other important deadlines prior to the primary balloting.
The last day to register to vote in the regular primary election and automatically receive a mail-in ballot is Friday, June 12.
That’s also the deadline for voters to register to be able to cast ballots at early voting locations without requesting a provisional ballot.
Local residents can register to vote either in-person at the Cache County Administrative Building or online at www.vote.utah.gov
In-person early voting will be available to county residents from noon to 6 p.m. during the period from Monday, June 15 to Thursday, June 18 at the Cache County Administrative Building.
Also under state law, all primary election ballots must in the possession of the Cache County Clerk’s office by 8 p.m. on Primary Election Day (June 23) in order to be counted. That applies both to ballots returned by mail – which Behm suggests be posted not later than June 16 – and those returned via drop boxes throughout the county.
Drop box location throughout Cache County can be found at www.cachecounty.gov/elections
Behm adds that registered voters who do not receive a mail-in ballot by Monday, June 8 should contact his office at 435-755-1460.
The Cache County Administrative Building is located at 179 North Main Street in downtown Logan.
