LOGAN — A 43-year-old Cornish man has confessed to raping a teenage girl last spring after she asked him for a ride. Misael Reyes-Solorio accepted a plea deal that could send him to prison for up to 15 years.

Reyes-Solorio participated in a virtual hearing in 1st District Court Monday morning, appearing by web conference from the Cache County Jail. He pleaded guilty to five counts of forcible sexual abuse, all second-degree felonies.

According to prosecutors, a 14-year-old girl told Logan City Police officers that Reyes-Solorio sexually assaulted her April 30, 2021. The victim explained how she was planning to run away from home that night. As she left her house, she noticed her neighbor’s lights on and went over to ask for a ride.

The girl told police, Reyes-Solorio answered the door and invited her inside. He began talking about her relationship with her boyfriend and asking her to expose herself to him. When she refused, he grabbed her hand, pulled her into the basement of the home and raped her.

Following the assault, Reyes-Solorio offered to give her a ride to her desired location. He also put his phone number in her phone and told her that they could have sex again.

Police located the phone number in the victim’s phone and traced it to Reyes-Solorio. While interviewing him, he claimed the girl offered him sex in exchange for a ride.

Reyes-Solorio spoke only briefly during Monday’s hearing, telling the court he was willing to waive his rights to a fair trial and confess to the charges. He is being held in jail without bail and will be sentenced May 31.
