LOGAN – The Cache Suicide Prevention Coalition is organizing a “Spreading Positivity” campaign by creating signs with positive messages and setting them up throughout the community and the Cache County Fairgrounds during the fair.

The second leading cause of death among young adults is suicide and for every youth it is estimated up to 200 others attempted it.

The Coalition hopes their messages, like “Be the reason that someone smiles today” and “Life is tough but so are you,” are meant to help promote the coalition’s mission and increase support for suicide prevention in our community. The coalition wants to promote awareness, education and resources they hope will prevent suicide.

Jimmy Birman, the coalition’s chair and executive director of the United Way said spreading positivity campaign supports the first part of the CSPC mission statement of bringing hope to others.

We are hoping putting the signs out will let people know about an upcoming Suicide Awareness Concert, on Monday, Aug. 22, 2022, with Alex Boye, a multicultural, vocalist and regional vocalist. September is Suicide Awareness Month, and the coalition is hoping to have signs placed in high traffic areas around the Cache Valley throughout the month.”

The coalitions social media hashtag is #BeTheHope.

Birman was inspired to bring this campaign to Cache Valley after seeing a similar one in another community. The coalition thought it would be a great way to promote the coalition and its mission statement by encouraging positivity.

The “Spreading Positivity” campaign was made possible by the in-kind donations from Logan Regional Hospital and the Cache Suicide Prevention Coalition. Logan Regional Hospital donated the printing of all the signs to be put up around the valley.
