David Benson is one of three candidates who have so far filed their names to run for the now-vacant post of Cache County Clerk/Auditor in a GOP special election slated for June 28.
CACHE COUNTY – David Benson says he is running for the post of Cache County clerk/auditor to preserve conservative, trustworthy government that supports its current and future citizens as effectively as possible.
Benson is one of three candidates who have so far filed to run for the county clerk/auditor position in the GOP Special Election slated for June 28.
If elected by his fellow Republicans, Benson promises to bring decades of private sector and non-profit experience to that post for the benefit of all Cache County residents.
“I will build on the good deeds of my predecessor,” Benson says, referring to former Clerk/Auditor Jess Bradfield, who resigned on June 4 after having a stormy relationship with members of the Cache County Council.
“I will make adjustments as needed, leading with persuasion and diligence to improve operation in both departments under my care … Perhaps most importantly, I pledge to stand up for what is right, even in the face of discomfort.”
Benson says that he can offer county residents more then 30 years experience in management consulting, customer service, corporate training, business analysis and project management in fast-paced settings from industry powerhouses to innovative start-ups.
Benson holds an Information Technology Certificate from the Bridgerland Applied Technology College; a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Brigham Young University; and a master degree in business with an entrepreneurship specialization from Utah State University.
His public service experience includes volunteering as chair of the Cache County Republican Veterans Caucus; as vice-chair of the Cache County GOP Northeast District; and as a member of the Common Ground Outdoor Adventures, a local non-profit assisting persons with disabilities.
The other candidates who have filed for the county post include Bryson Behm, currently the county’s acting clerk/auditor; and Micah Safsten, a policy advisor for the Cache County Council.
Additional candidates can toss their hats in the ring until 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, according to Geoff Cox, chair of the Cache County Republican Party.
Would-be candidates can submit their applications to Cox at P.O. Box 43, Logan, UT, 84323. If submitting an application electronically, a signed paper application must also be submitted to the same address prior to the filing deadline on June 22.
