LOGAN –The Cache County Fairgrounds were busy Wednesday with judges finalizing some their duties and hanging the entrees. Food booths being prepared for the hordes of people trying to get something to eat and the carnival expecting their share of patrons.
The livestock judging was in full swing Wednesday with participants putting the final touches on their animals.
The Cache County Fair PRCA Rodeo and Fair are celebrating 145 years and will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday, through Saturday, August 8-10.
They started with slack on Wednesday, said Fair Chairman Lane Parker.
Audiences can expect some of the top-notch cowboys and cowgirls competing for top prize money, Parker said.
“There are about 800 rodeos across the country and our rodeo is one of the top 60 rodeos in the U.S.,” Parker said. “We have a million-dollar payout and that’s what brings them to our rodeo.”
Kerr has been working with horses for over 50 years.
Slack was on Tuesday evening and they had some really good cowboys participate, he said.
“Our Specialty Act this year is Bobby Kerr, a five-time PRCA act of the year winner,” Parker said. “Kerr has been working with horses for over 50 years.”
When it comes to the fair they had 840 animals this year and he expects 750 will be auctioned off.
“Brown Amusements is back again,” he said. They have been coming for 22 years and they are one of the top amusement companies in the country. They put on a really good show.”
There are the same number of food trucks and booths this year. Every space is filled. All of the Jr. livestock shows, and the sales are on YouTube this year.
“Most of the food is from food trucks but there are a lot of booths too,” Parker said “We sorted through the applications to make sure we had a good variety of vendors.”
The Cache County Fair will be the place to be this weekend. The doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 10 p.m.
