Cache County Clerk & Auditor Jess Bradfield talks to KVNU’s For the People host Jason Williams

LOGAN — A new audit has been released by the Cache County Clerk and Auditors office, it’s an audit of the Senior Citizens Board.

On KVNU’s For the People program last week, clerk and auditor Jess Bradfield said this audit had some good news.

“That’s right, there are audits that turn up bad news, and then there’s audits that happily, rarely turn up good news. We’ve been lucky in all of our audits, we’ve been able to turn up quite a bit of good news, and it’s actually been so long since we talked about audits, we’ve done four this year,” he explained.

Since Bradfield took office as clerk and auditor, this is the sixth audit performed.

“What we did is by code, we found that by code, the senior citizens board is supposed to be audited, the finances, every single year by the county auditor. Since its inception in the (19)60’s, as far as we can find and have record of, we can’t find any examples where it was actually audited. So, we said it is time to take an examination.”

Bradfield said there are two main types of audits. The first type is a standard financial services audit, where you’re examining the finances of an office, or department or entity.

The second type is a performance audit that needs to be directed under the supervision of a legislative body or the Cache County Executive.

He said the next audit scheduled to be released in a few weeks is on the county public works department.
