TREMONTON – The Box Elder County Fair celebrates 99 years of rodeo, animal shows, food and carnival.
The six days of fair began Monday, on Aug. 19, and goes through Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Box County Fair Grounds located at 320 N. 1000 W. Tremonton.
This year’s theme is “Meet Me at the Fair and Rodeo.”
Tuesday, Aug. 20 highlights the Draft Horses. The show will begin at 10 a.m. and go on all day at the large arena. The evening Draft Hose Show will begin at 5 p.m. with an opening prayer, the National Anthem and a Flag Ceremony. Draft horses, light horses, and mules will be participating in a variety of events.
Wednesday exhibit entries are received from 7 a.m. and the Antique Tractor Display will be set up for the entire week.
The Fair Parade will begin at 5 p.m. The route runs from 600 South to 600 North Tremonton Street. This year’s Grand Marshall is Lola Baker. She was honored for her long-time support of the Box Elder County Fair.
Throughout the rest of the week the FFA animals will be there to show and for people to check out some of the top livestock in the state.
The rodeo gates open at 5:30 p.m. for the Golden Spike PRCA Rodeo which begins at 7:50 p.m. The Carnival, food courts and officially opens Officials boast the rodeo is the oldest rodeo in the Beehive State. It’s domestic Violence Awareness Night at the rodeo and officials are asking everyone to wear purple to show their support.
Thursday, August 22 brings the Bailed Hay Exhibition, and the Antique Tractor display will still be on hand for inspection.
Exhibits will be open to the public from 10 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. and the carnival opens at 1 p.m. until 11 p.m.
They have an Eagles tribute band, Sage Valley, performing at 6:30 p.m. and a Beetles tribute band, Imagine, performing at 8 p.m. on the main stage.
The Rodeo theme is Family Night and gates open at 5:30 p.m. for the 7:50 p.m. rodeo.
The Parade of Champions at the Golden Spike Rodeo will be at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday begins with registration for the Fun Run at 6:30 and races begin at 7:15 a.m.
The Auction for livestock begins at 9 a.m.
