NORTH LOGAN — The American Festival Chorus and Orchestra will present a choral music concert entitled A Look At the World: The Choral Music of John Rutter on Saturday, April 26.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the music of Sir John Rutter, a living legend in choral music,” said Craig Jessop, the music director of the AFCO.

“We know that audiences will be touched and enlightened by this glorious music.”

That spring concert, with the Cache Children’s Choir as special guests, is slated to take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Newel and Jean Daines Concert Hall on the campus of Utah State University.

Rutter is one of the most prolific and popular composers of choral music in the world today. His numerous accomplishments in the field of music were recently recognized with a knighthood bestowed by King Charles III of England.

Born in 1945, Rutter is a renowned English composer and choral conductor whose anthems are very popular with church choirs and choral societies the world over.

In addition to his knighthood, Rutter has earned many honors including being named an honorary fellow of the Westminster Choir College at Princeton University in 1980; a fellow of the Guild of Church Musicians in 1988; and the Lambeth Doctorate of Music from the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1996.

Rutter still works as a composer, arranger and music editor. He writes in a style that can be enjoyed easily by contemporary audiences, but is still excellent music.

Jessop said that the choir and orchestra will perform Rutter’s easily recognizable compositions For the Beauty of the Earth, All Things Bright and Beautiful and The Lord Bess You and Keep You.

The Cache Childen’s Choir will also join the AFCO in performing Rutter’s popular Mass for the Children.

Jessop added that Rutter’s music has touched millions of listeners around the globe and is sure to leave audiences deeply moved as the AFCO performs some of his most popular and beloved works.
