Aggie Ice Cream
LOGAN – Aggie Ice Cream will open a second store Friday and General Manager Bridgett Liberty explains why.
“Part of the reason we are opening another location is to alleviate the lines and some of the pressure on our current employees,” Liberty explains. “It’s also going to add some more campus jobs, as well as provide better access to students and to athletics.”
And that is because the new location at Blue Square is west of the USU football stadium, and also right next door to the Aggie Chocolate Factory. Both Aggie Ice Cream and the Chocolate Factory are part of food science education in USU’s Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Sciences.
Aggie ice cream has been sold on the USU campus for more than 100 years and that once included a small store in the Animal Science Building on the north side of the quad.
Liberty said the grand opening will begin Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Blue Square, 1111 North 800 East, starting with the ribbon-cutting by Dr. Ken White, Dean of the College of Ag.
“There’s $500 for the first person in line,” Liberty exclaims. “There’s face-painting, there’s balloon animals, an Aggie Ice Cream eating contest; you can sign up for that the day of, when you come here. Just all kinds of fun things happening; there are going to be giveaways.”
