LOGAN — It’s a big event every summer around the 4th of July, and this year’s Cache Valley Cruise-In is even bigger, as it is their 40th year as a major showcase for classic vehicle enthusiasts.

Over 1,000 classic cars and custom builds are expected to grace the Cache County Fairgrounds this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

On KVNU’s For the People program on Monday, Brandon Douglas, president of the Cache Valley Cruising Association said they have made the yearly car giveaway even more of a temptation to enter.

We have a 1968 Ford Mustang, it’s the Aggie colors, blue and white, appropriate for this valley, and we also have a 40th edition Chevy Corvette, and that was chosen because it’s the 40th edition, and it’s our 40th anniversary, and it just kind of made sense,” Douglas said.

So it’s two cars for one winner to be given away Saturday evening before the annual Main Street Cruise-In Parade in downtown Logan.  Also, there will be lots of vendors, including food vendors with even more choices this year.

“The food vendors came out of the woodwork this year, they were so excited to be a part of our show.  If you’re into the fair food, the carnival kind of food, you’re not going to want to miss this because I think we have between 40 and 45 food vendors coming out, So everything you think of will be there.”

Douglas joked that if anyone walks away from the car show and doesn’t gain a few pounds, they weren’t there very long.

Another tradition that has developed with the car show is the Cruise-In concert, that will be held Thursday night.

“We have two bands coming in, the first act will be Sawyer Brown, they’re obviously a party band that likes to come out and get the crowd pumped and energized and ready. If you’ve ever been to a Sawyer Brown concert, you know what I’m talking about, if you haven’t, you’ve missed out and now’s your chance to redeem yourself. Following their act (is) Granger Smith with special guest Earl Dibbles Junior.”
